Obsidian provides an in house CGI services in conjunction with our post production solution and can provide all the technical setup and consultation required for your production’s filming. For those that need to go that extra mile, Obsidian has close working relationships with reputable CGI houses. Together we can take you on that cinema experience.

Standards conversions (converting from Pal to NTSC and vice versa) were thought to be a thing of the past. This is a solution Obsidian still offers but we take it a stage further. The digital tapeless revolution has delivered to us more issues like different frame rates for HD projects. We are happy to convert your footage to your required standard and frame rate to save you the time and hassle. A valuable service to speed up your production.

Any type or format of footage you have that requires duplicates being made or to be transferred from one medium to another is not a problem. Obsidian can deliver your tape footage to you in the editing codec you require with a backup on hard drive. If you want to edit in Apple Pro Res or DNX-HD we can provide this. Any combination of format conversion we can accommodate, even the domestic mediums like DVD. 

If you need your tapeless files converted from one source to another to make your post production life easier or just for archive purposes, Obsidian can facilitate this for you e.g. P2 to XDCAM EX. We even take things that step further if you require a specific format like Apple Pro Res or DNX-HD, 1:1 uncompressed or even AVC Intra 100. We understand how valuable your media is and can deliver your footage on mirrored or duplicate hard drives included in the price.

Obsidian will encode your production rushes with burnt in timecode or your edited production to a variety of formats that you require - mastering quality, Blu-ray, DVD, Web, HD, SD, WMV, MOV, AVI, FLV, MPEG4, Xvid, Divx, and many more. Whatever you’re encoding needs, we can deliver to your expectations.

If you have files or a batch of files that require transcoding to a useable file format, Obsidian is able to deliver mastering quality, Blu-ray, DVD, Web, HD, SD, WMV, MOV, AVI, FLV, MPEG4, Xvid, Divx, and many more. Whatever you’re encoding needs, we can deliver to your expectations.

Using Avid Audio products, Obsidian can re-master your audio, reduce hum and hiss and background noise. This could mean the difference between usable audio or having to record again, an invaluable service that will save you time and money. However, not all audio issues can be fixed and we are more than happy for you to send us a sample to work on at an agreed price to ensure you are satisfied with the results before extensive work is carried out. We pride ourselves on customer relations and will tell you if your audio is beyond repair.

Some smaller budget productions record audio without syncing the audio or genlocking. This means that the audio and video needs to be synced in the edit suite and can significantly slow a post solution down. Obsidian will sync this material prior to any post solution booking or can provide sync material for use on personal or other edit suites. We can also lock Multicam shoots that were not genlocked by taking the material into the editing environment, syncing and then exporting with matching timecode for edit either by us, you or another industry professional.
